Between the Bridges

Between the Bridges is a dining and cultural festival in Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Moody, Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam. This collaboration between civic and destination marketing organizations was designed to increase visitation to and between the five communities.

THE GOAL

The four destination marketing organizations or civic groups representing Tourism New Westminster, Explore Burnaby, Tourism Coquitlam, and the City of Port Moody came together to create a new festival, highlighting the unique art, cultural and dining experiences that can be found across the communities.

A new brand and website needed to be created, as well as print collateral in the form of a passport for in-market activation. The website launched in February of 2020 but unfortunately was indefinitely postponed due to COVID-19.

THE WORK

In the inaugural year of the festival, project management support was required to develop a brand for the festival, and design and develop a website. Additionally, stakeholder engagement and communications were required to introduce the festival concept and generate participation.

Elizabeth leveraged her network to source and retain independent creatives specializing in brand design and web development. She managed key phases of the project from inception to completion, including stakeholder engagement with the participating organizations; communications and engagement with potential festival participants including local businesses, arts and culture destinations; strategic recommendations on brand development and web design to ensure that the project was completed within the tight timelines provided; communications and deadline management between service providers and the project lead for the DMOs/civic organizations; and asset handoff to the client.

THE RESULTS

The project came together quickly and effectively, with a brand and website that reflect the playful, creative and fun elements of the festival concept. All stakeholder organizations were very happy with the end result and the process by which it occurred. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the festival was indefinitely postponed, however, the assets are evergreen in nature and can either be relaunched or repurposed for a future collaborative festival.
